You’ve heard it over and over for months. “It’s been a very challenging year, to say the least.” That still rings (very) true. But we would like to take a moment to reflect on and be grateful for all the good things that have happened this year.
In 2020, GenesisHOPE has been blessed to serve over 1,300 people since the end of March when the “lockdown” began. We have served food boxes to over 250 Detroiters every week since then. That’s over 4,200 boxes this year! We distributed more than 2,000 masks and other PPE, and we connected people to more than 350 resources to meet their needs.
Through our WeCARE Solutions programs, we have repaired four roofs and one house’s plumbing to allow five different families to remain in their homes. GenesisHOPE is also currently in the process of assisting 75 households to secure weatherization services to stay warm this winter, including furnaces and hot water heaters.
This year 38 young people virtually participated in our summer internship. Our engagement was just as high as in previous years, even through a pandemic. They not only learned that good nutrition and a healthy lifestyle is always the best choice, but also how it can prepare your body to encounter a virus such as COVID-19.
Our Healthy Initiative program has enrolled 41 people in FreshRx! FreshRx participants are prescribed fresh produce by a doctor and learn how to be healthy on a budget. Through this program, GenesisHOPE provides SNAP Education to empower Detroiters to live a healthy lifestyle.

Everything we accomplished this year, we accomplished together. None of this would be possible without generous supporters like you. So thank you! Thank you for all of the contributions.
